Edge AI services span full life-cycle development for applications across defense, medical, manufacturing, and semiconductor sectors
At the 2024 Embedded Vision Summit, global edge computing leader J-Squared Technologies and international software solutions provider Digica announce a comprehensive solution for concept-to-completion edge AI development, empowered by the Hailo-8 AI accelerator. The joint offering will be demonstrated at the booth of Hailo, a leading-edge AI chip manufacturer (#721) at the Embedded Vision Summit. The solution features full life-cycle development—research, prototyping, MVP, testing, and deployment—with robust edge compute hardware optimized to serve pervasive AI connectivity, scale, and cost challenges.
The partnership leverages Digica’s expertise in designing, training, and deploying cutting-edge Computer Vision, Machine Learning (ML), and Large Language Models (LLMs) and J-Squared's ruggedized, SWAP-C hardware platforms for applications that solve important health, security, and safety challenges across defense, medical, manufacturing, and semiconductor industries.
As Digica's CV / DL solutions are frequently deployed on edge devices, achieving high performance with a minimum power consumption is crucial. The Hailo AI accelerators deliver high performance at lower power consumption, are small enough to be built into edge devices, and are optimized for such applications. The accompanying comprehensive software suite simplifies the development and deployment process, reducing time to market.
“One of the biggest roadblocks to realizing the benefits of AI is the patchwork of vendors and cumbersome integrations required to develop and deploy AI applications,” said Søren Bradbury, COO at Digica. “This partnership enables all-in-one AI and ML capabilities from leaders committed to open-platform innovation and best-in-class technologies.”
J-Squared and Digica will focus on creating and deploying AI and ML for increased safety, security, and efficiency across diverse environments including for custom requirements using a defined but flexible engagement model.
“Too often software and hardware are viewed as discrete, separate problems to solve rather than a single cohesive solution, which adds time, complexity and cost to AI deployments,” added Andrew Woollard, CTO of J-Squared. “Considering the complete solution from the design phase through testing and deployment both streamlines AI application development and results in a better product.”
Digica's successful track record includes hundreds of successful projects and breakthroughs in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, synthetic data generation, autonomous systems, and predictive solutions for critical system failures. J-Squared rugged systems have been used for mission-critical land, sea, and air applications for the past 30 years.
